The Indian Folk Band

Balu and his friends have been playing the jambe as an act of protest and celebration. Balu, the lead performer of the group brought the band together to drive home the point that the root of all genres of music is in folk. His group travels across different forums from art festivals to protests in both rural and urban areas.  They hope to collaborate with different musicians over the years and infuse the flavor of folk with other genres of film. They opened for Kalpana Patowary, in the concert organized for migrant workers in Bangalore. They also performed and jammed at Cubbon Park as ‘forbidden figures occupying the park’.
